Mission Tinto Dos 2017 From the Ribeira Sacra region of Northwest Spain. The region is notoriously hard to cultivate, but it has amazing geography and soils and can produce fantastic, elegant, characterful wines. Zak Elfman is an American fell in love with the wines of Ribeira Sacra and decided that his life's mission is to make the finest wine he can possibly make from these forgotten river canyons. Hence the name of his wines. The Minhor river valley, where the fruit for this is from has a cooler climate, which together with fermentation in open top barriques results in a bigger and richer style compared to the Mission Uno. 15% of Brancellao and 15% Garnacha Tintorera add a savoury rusticity to balance out the bright fruityness of the Mencia.
